Portsmouth Festivities 2010, The Victorians Age Of Wonder

 

In 2010 The Portsmouth Festivities took the theme of "The Victorians, Age Of Wonder". The Festivities got underway on Thursday 17th June with a Gala Concert. Then on Monday 21st the Royal Marines Band performed in Gunwharf Quays with an explosive finale as a countdown to the South Coast Proms which took place at the end of the Festivities week. This was a massive concert by the Royal Marines Bands on Whale Island. The events culminated in "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside" on Sunday 27th June 2010.

The Victorians' had a passion for leisure and recreation and the celebrate this there was a day of music, food and fun at the Southsea Bandstand. This ranged from bicycles to banjos, which closed with a daytime firework display which were detonated by the crew of the space shuttle Atlantis as a prelude to next years Festivities which will take the theme of space.
